Travers Holbrook

Registered Psychologist, Supervisor, and Trainer

I established Next Chapter Health to create a practice that balances authentic, human connection with robust clinical standards.

I focus on clinical complexity - working with clients who are navigating multiple, layered challenges that can lead to feeling ‘stuck’ or misunderstood. My approach is built on collaborative discovery - blending your lived experience with evidence-based frameworks to understand the patterns shaping your life, rather than just managing symptoms.

I work to connect the head, the heart, and the whole body. I believe you don’t just need to know something is different, you need to feel it, emotionally and physically. You can read more about the work that I do here.

Innovation in Practice
I believe that sustainable recovery requires us to look beyond the consulting room, leading me to develop Trauma-Informed Photography packages, using creative expression to reclaim identity and body neutrality.

Looking ahead, I am currently expanding my research and training into Neurofeedback (EEG Biofeedback). Recognising that complex conditions often involve deep-seated physiological dysregulation, this approach allows us to map neural biomarkers and directly train the brain toward better regulation.

Outside of the Counselling Room
Beyond private practice, I hold a senior clinical role as the Coordinator of an Inpatient EMDR Program in regional Victoria. In this capacity, I oversee the delivery of intensive, trauma-focused interventions for complex presentations within a hospital setting.

I also develop and deliver training on trauma-informed care to private allied health practices as well as major public health networks and peak bodies. This includes workshops on ‘The Intersectionality of Neurodivergence and Trauma’ delivered to Monash Health, Eastern Health, and Sexual Assault Services Victoria.

Fun Stuff
Outside of the counselling room, I am all about pop culture. It is not uncommon for me to connect with clients over their current streaming binge. Within the first few sessions, you will often hear my ‘Buffy’ theory of trauma therapy! Movies, TV series and books are how I spend my downtime and they help recharge my batteries. The pic, from a fancy dress party, shows me as my fave Marvel superhero!

Please note: I do not offer diagnostic assessments for court or educational purposes. My work is focused exclusively on therapeutic intervention.
